Riverside Hospital was first commissioned on Juneteenth, 1926. To commemorate the historic institution’s centennial, Harris County Public Health and Commissioner Rodney Ellis—who was born in that very space—will be celebrating its grand reopening as a neighborhood health hub after a decade of inactivity. Along with family-friendly activities, a bike rodeo, and free food boxes, visitors can also access a wide variety of complimentary health screenings and consultations.

Class Bookstore’s book club for kids, Tea Time with Miss Daija, nurtures a love of the written word and community alike via storytime, crafts, and—like the name says—plenty of cups of delicious tea. If you and your littles miss this month, don’t fret! Miss Daija will host her playful parties on multiple Sundays throughout the summer.

In honor of Make Music Day, which lands on June 21 every year, 4th Wall Theatre Company presents an immersive musical and theatrical experience by DJ, sound designer, and music producer J U N O (alias of Robert Leslie Meek), who has worked as a sound designer for the theater company for the past 12 years. Live piano and synth music overlap with storytelling and pre-recorded sounds in a performance titled Serenity.
